    Hi all,

After troubleshooting with Dennis Vincent Holzborn's help, it seems a workaround for this specific issue ("videos stall for a bit before looping") would be to use the PhotoJPEG / MotionJPEG codec for your videos. This has removed the glitch on the few machines at our disposal that were experiencing the issue (including Dennis Vincent Holzborn's). The downside is that with this codec your files are heavier and the load on your hardware is greater (hard disk especially).

On macOS, we can recommend AVF Batch Exporter (free/open sourcefrom) as a simple transcoding tool from the VIDVOX team for instance.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi,

Sorry for the inconvenience. Do you mean that the video stops at the end of one loop and then nothing is displayed or that there is some kind of glitch between each loop?

Could you please send us some of those videos? You can do so from a private ticket if needed.

Regarding the different playback and loop options you have in HeavyM 2, here is more information.

    Have a nice day.

I mean "some kind of glitch between each loop", it seems like it is stopping for a few frames, like as it has to load the file new... It seems to appear on all video files. I also tested this with the free loops I`ve downloaded from the HeavyM webside...

funny, when I shorten the end frame in the source and skip the last frame it seems to work, but than one frame is missing...

Hi, I think I experienced a similar thing with a downloaded loop. If I set the end time to 1 before it loops and it seems OK. I have not been able to verify the loop used as being 'seamless' but it may be a beta glitch.

    I was and am using 2.10 beta2

    Regards.

Doesn`t seem to matter if it`s 2.9 or the new 2.10...

So I`m the only one who have this problem, or are you`re not using video loops??

Denis - By the activity level in this and other HeavyM groups I pretty certain it could be less than 10 of us. Not sure what's going on with this package as it gets so little interaction, I must say I'm disappointed and may have to change applications just to get some interaction & discussion.

I have used loops but not aggressively as I'm not using this as an income, also considering the time it's taken to get anything near the competitors has been crazy, despite much 'marketing' about HM's capabilities.

    Best of luck.

Thanks for your answer. I´m really happy with the intuitve workflow in HM and even it has small amount of features most of the things I need are supported. But using video loops are presented in the demos, even free loops are downloadable from their website, so I thought it would be usable... so maybe special formats are needed, framerate/compression, settings, whatever. I`m just surprised that this kind of basic feature seems buggy.

And yes it`s a shame that there is so little interaction & discussion, I wish more people would share their experience. But if one want to use the software professionally, than are bugs like this hard to ignore...

I´ve send a privat ticket, we`ll see what happens.

    Hi all,

Sorry for the inconvenience. There are known performance issues with videos, we are aware that these kind of glitches can happen. It's still a bit unclear why/when they happen as they don't seem linked to a specific computer configuration or video format/codec, which makes it difficult to troubleshoot. The only suggestion we can give you at the moment is to try with different formats/codecs/compression (.mov, H264/H265/HAP/..., or HAP Alpha or ProRes 4444 if you need transparency.) If you send us some of those files via your private ticket we can try to know more and different conversions for you.

Improving our video playback engine is one of our main focus though, but it takes time and resources. We're currently working hard on it with the third-party video library provider to try and fix these kind of issues as soon as possible.

There haven't been changes on this between 2.9 and 2.10 so rolling back is not a workaround here.

    Have a nice day.
