Latest 2.12 Issue

Hi,

 

Latest version of Pro+ and cannot see the 'full' properties of a player. Trying to rest aspect but latest version and documentation not correct. Getting a bit frustrated with the 'easy' things in HeavyM as trying to master the detail the basics should be rock solid, and I'm afraid they are not.

Please advise.

  Hi mrcidavies,

  Could you please send a screenshot? I can't see the issue on my side.

  I'm literally updating the Help Center as we speak for the release of version 2.13.0 in the next few hours, so if you've checked tutorials in the last half-hour (especially the ones mentioning coordinates & dimensions) there might be inconsistencies with version 2.12.
  Could that be it? Thanks in advance.

  Hi, 

  As mentioned in my previous message, the Help Center is currently being updated for 2.13. There are many changes to be made to existing articles and we can't update all of them at the same time unfortunately. (As you might have guessed by now, I'm alone doing that.)
  This is why I try to mention the version as much as possible when adding new features to articles. As you can see in the article related to the Properties, Coordinates & Dimensions are mentioned as a 2.13 feature for instance.

  So yes, there are a couple of hours where the Help Center might not exactly be up-to-date when we release a new version, we don't have a better solution at the moment. Sorry that the timing wasn't right.

  Lea,

  I am confused, I have 2.12 not 2.13 and the properties should display the aspect at least, which is what I am trying to acheive, reset the aspect to 16:9 etc. as has been the case for ages, its not a 'new' feature.

  Am I doing something wrong here as I cannot see a way to set/check the player aspect?

  Your efforts do not go un-noticed, I can assure you, and that you have to answer support queries and the documentation is not a good situation. As a paid for platform, not cheap, this level of support is poor and has a way to go, and not your issue, it's one for management.

  Hi again,

  I have to say I am also confused, Player properties haven't changed between 2.11 and 2.12 at least and they look exactly like in your screenshot. There is an aspect ratio option yes, but it's only at the creation of the Player shape from the toolbar, where you can choose a default ratio:

  
  There's no option to edit the ratio in the Properties, so I'm not sure what you are referring to. Could there be a confusion with the option mentioned above maybe?

  Coordinates & Dimensions are coming in 2.13 this afternoon (as you've been spoiled already).

  Lea,

  References to Coordinates & Dimensions do indeed have 2.13 in parenthesis but as these articles are 2021 I cannot see how the version 2.13 would be specified as the point where this was added. Very strange way to plan software. Anyway can you explain the following image as it's the one causing my confusion.

  Well it seems I've forgotten to add a "2.13" mention to the particular paragraph associated with this image in this case. This article is currently being edited, this image was added only around half an hour ago.

  When there is a new release, if there are new features that require a tutorial we post a new article, but for improvements to existing modules, we edit the already existing article(s). This is mostly the case this release and in particular for coordinates & dimensions, warping and soft-edge. They impact existing resources such as Properties and drawing articles. 

  Most articles are not recent, but they are updated regularly to reflect changes in updates to the interface, new behaviors, correct mistakes, add tips after user feedback, etc.
  Our help center is not made to make resources from different releases coexist, so we try to specify the version as much as possible in the same articles, especially during transitions to a new update. 

  I am aware not all the help center is up-to-date and there can be differences in the screenshots especially, as not everyone uses the same release. We are also working to update some video tutorials in the coming months, some of them are starting to be quite old.

  Thanks for the description as it makes it easier to understand. Was strange that a feature I needed today has only just been implemented (2.13) although discussed for quite a while in the forum. Could I suggest that a system of document managment be used that restricts access to new versions until such time as the code is available, as this is the norm coming as I do from an IT career of 40+ years. This would also make your job a lot easier in understanding where the current state of documentation is. Just a thought.

  Look forward to 2.13 then as I'll be able to do what I need.
