Image and music sequence

Hello Davide
I already answered this question here:
https://heavym.zendesk.com/hc/fr/community/posts/5316961929490-Ableton-Link-advice
Take a look, ask again if needed.0 -
Davide,
As good as HM is it does not natively (yet) have a mutli-asset timeline. I would take a look at Isadora as it is exactly what you need for your project. HM can work with it if you needed the specific HM features.
Regards.

Thanks both for your availability in commenting.
Reading a bit the different posts seems HM its not the best fit for current needs, also just one week before the event (having just this weekend to experiment) it's not the right time in switching to something so different.
Will continue use Millumin and testing so my wife new MacBook Pro that seems to work also with my eGPU, will return back for other opportunities.0 -
Hi all,
Thanks for your comments guys, just to add to this topic if someone is looking for info regarding audio, it was also discussed in this post. Davide, sorry to hear that HeavyM doesn't fit your needs for this project, but thanks for the kind words!
Have a nice day!

Finished the event during whom I started experimenting the shaders of Millumin, finding different limitations - not last my wife MBP didn't support the eGPU I'm using on my Windows laptop so I was limited to very basic 2D effects.
So interested to evaluate for next time HM, I will need anyway the sequence feature.
Reading on the forum I got to understand the future 2.8 release seems to contain this feature, wanted to ask if this is confirmed or if not there is any ETA for the delivery.0 -
Hi Davide,
In 2.8 there will be the basic possibility to add an audio file on the sequencer and also on each sequence (without any custom settings for the time being).
We intend to release version 2.8 in June/July.
Hope that helps, have a nice day.

Hi one year later for another yearly event of the association, wanted to ask if the multi-asset timeline it's an available feature now

Experimenting a bit and what I can't understand is how to combine a video/picture and an audio, launching a sequence and play both of them together.
The sources are listed for "all sequences" so I can't find a way to assign a source to a specific sequence, sources are also not audio so can't find a way to assign an audio to a specific sequence too

You can add an audio file to a sequence. Look in sequence settings and there is an audio option. I do not know how this interacts with a timeline audio, but test and see. The picture/video is as per player settings. See https://heavym.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/9172868530066-Module-1-the-Sequences

Starting testing on my Win11 laptop with Nvidia eGPU, wanted to ask if there is a preference for Game-ready or Studio-ready drivers, or it's indifferent.
Edit: installed studio-ready and seems working fine

Testing so far seems working fine, I have two final questions that will complete my feasibilty for the usage in next Sunday event
- In some cases I need to change the visual, but follow on with the same audio during a scene (call it scene 1). Creating a new scene (call it scene 2) with new visual and the same associated audio is possible, but launching it will start again the audio and not follow on from where was in previous scene. Using Timeline didn't seem an option due is able to manage a single track so no different audios as needed for other scenes (like scene 3, 4 etc). There is a solution
- The opposite, I might need to keep the visual but change the underlying audio, so like keep playing a video with all his effects, but changing the underlying audio. Cannot see a way to achieve this

This multi audio timeline is something I requested but not planned currently. I was recommended to use a 3rd party audio editor to splice tracks together, an option but extra workload. I would think the timeline is more flexible for show control as you can jump sequences and play in any order, as long as you can get the audio sorted. HM need to work on this as multi track should not be too tricky aloowing for fades etc.
Good luck.

Hi all,
Thanks for helping mrcidavies.
Indeed, multi-track management on the Timeline is not available at the moment and if you put an audio file directly on a sequence, it always restarts from the top once the sequence starts playing.
There are 2 workarounds at the moment:
- Prepare your soundtrack in a single file with an audio editing app (free/open-source Audacity for instance), as mrcidavies said
- Include the audio in a video format file so that it can be added as a Source (either in a transparent video or in a video that you display outside of the Canvas)
Hope that clarifies.
Have a nice day!
PS: if there's audio on the Timeline and on a sequence, both tracks simply play at the same time if both are started.
