    Hi all,

We've just updated the beta downloads on the license manager and the release page. Thanks to your feedback, this new 2.10.0 beta2 includes many fixes and some workflow improvements.

In terms of features, the official 2.10 release due mid-March will be similar. A few minors bugs have already been found and will be fixed by then, but we won't add new features.

Hope you'll like it, don't hesitate to give us your feedback and share your projects!

Super list, lots to digest here. Looking forward to full Tutorial support when released.

    Well done.!!

    Best regards.

Ah, ok... I see now what I wasn't seeing... Thanks...

    HM . . .
If I can make a suggestion about that? ...Add a simple yellow '+' in the upper right corner of the sequence tab to 'create new' --or-- 'new map' directly from the sequence/map tab header and automatically create the new map iteratively. It'd be a lot simpler than having to scroll down, find the feature when your in a design phase... Everyone can rename them appropriately down the road as needed.

And still... The one thing I would still love to see in HM is a SINGLE LINE feature as opposed to using a shape and then covering 3 sides with a MASK to create a single one-way directional line...

So what ‘Is’ & ‘Isn’t” working with the 2.10 beta...

In the video it shows simply dragging a sequence to the timeline but, so far, all I can seem to do is to use the 'add marker'  (FLAG +) symbol from the right side of the timeline and then add it (to the timeline) via the drop-down menu... Am I doing something wrong? ...Or is that still in the “we’re working on it" phase...

I can drag & drop audio to the timeline from a folder just fine so, you would think you should be able to do the same with a sequence. Yes?

Nice upgrade, but sequencer uses far too much of the screen, and you cannot hide it to free up space.

Also, how do you get Audio Reactivity from the imbedded audio, either in a sequence or on the timeline?

    Hi all, happy new year!

    Thanks for the feedback.

Onebadbug you're right, it's still in the “we’re working on it" phase. You'll be able to drag & drop a sequence on the timeline in the official production release.

mrcidavies it's also in our plans for the release to implement a toolbar that allows you to show/hide the modules of the sequencer.
As for imported audio in the audio analysis, it's not possible natively, also there are solutions to route the audio from your computer in the analysis. On Windows, look for Stereo Mix in the input/record tab of the sound settings panel. On Mac, there's no native solution, but you can try a routing solution like Soundflower (check out this user's quick tutorial!).

    Have a nice day!

    Thanks Lea...

Is this also why the 'CUE SETTINGS' pane is also blank after you add CUES to the timeline as well? ... I'll assume yes...

Onebadbug The Cue Settings panel is only empty if no cue is selected. When you add a cue it gets selected right away so it's not supposed to be empty no, do you have a screenshot of your use case please?

    Thanks in advance!

Good news on the beta2 release, but why does your link not give any release information other than that for beta1?

Look forward to this and I'll experiment to find out in the meanwhile.

    Hi,

Since the features were described a bit broadly on the release page and there haven't been "major" additions we thought we'd only include the differences between the betas/official release in the release notes of the official 2.10. But here are the differences between beta1 and beta2 if you need:

    Features

    • Added “scroll follows playback” options on the timeline and sequences module so that the view can adapt to the progression of your project
    • Added a live cursor timestamp label on the time track so that you never get lost!
    • Added new cue addition and edition interactions:
      • Added the possibility to drag and drop a sequence directly on the timeline to quickly create a “Play” cue of the same color at a precise position
      • Added the possibility to double-click on the cue track to quickly create a “None” cue at a precise position
      • Added the possibility to create a new clue from a right-click menu on the cue track
      • Added the possibility to copy/cut/paste cues from a right-click menu on the cue track or by using common shortcuts
      • Added the possibility to use the arrow keys to move the selected cue by 1ms when it has the focus
      • At creation, the cue color and name adapt to the associated action

    Fixes

    • Fixed a bug that could cause the corruption of a project with missing media files
    • Fixed a crash that occurred when activating the Autopilot while the view was on an empty tab
    • Fixed a crash that could occur when drag and dropping a media file in the canvas
    • Fixed a crash that could occur when using the previous button in the Sequences module while Autopilot was running
    • Fixed a crash related to shader addition and undo actions
    • Fixed a crash related to map creation and undo actions
    • Fixed a crash related to the edit mode and undo actions
    • Fixed a rare crash related to canvas actions
    • Fixed a bug that caused cues to get stuck and not be editable
    • Fixed a bug that caused the deletion of shaders from the personal library even after canceling a “remove” action
    • Fixed the behavior of the previous/next buttons on sequences (they would always trigger playback in the first tab)
    • Fixed an issue on successive project loads
    • Fixed the display of some windows that would get cropped by the outline of the sequencer or the software and not be scrollable (like the cue actions or blend mode menus)
    • Fixed a bug that caused the audio waveform to not be displayed on the Timeline if the file contained special characters in its path
    • Fixed a bug that caused the Timeline view to be broken after some resize or zoom actions
    • Fixed a bug that caused a deleted Controls assignment to still be displayed in the overlay of the learning mode
    • Fixed a bug that could cause an endless load of projects
    • Fixed the Ableton Link app counter
    • Fixed a bug that caused HeavyM to steal the focus of other apps anytime a cue was triggered
    • Fixed the behavior of the “edited sequence” warning that could pop up in front of other elements, including output windows or other apps
    • Fixed a bug that could cause an incoherence between playhead position and audio playback
    • Fixed a bug that caused the effects and sources toolbar to be resizable horizontally
    • Fixed a bug that could get the zoom level stuck at 0% in the Output Setup
    • Fixed the Delete/Backspace shortcut on sequences
    • Fixed a bug that caused the TAP button to not react to OSC and DMX assignments
    • Fixed a bug that caused OSC and DMX assignments to trigger pushbuttons like previous/next twice
    • Fixed audio playback when adding an audio file on the currently played sequence

    Improvements

    • Improved the behavior of windows when displays are unplugged: output windows always appear in front of the interface
    • The mouse pointer is hidden when it gets in front of an output window (Windows only)
    • Autopilot activation is seamless even if the current tab doesn’t contain the played sequence
    • Autopilot doesn’t stop automatically at the end of a loop anymore
    • Improved the retrocompatibility with 2.9 and older projects: “off” sequences are loaded in a separate tab and no “Play” cues are created for them
    • Improved audio load on the Timeline: the waveform now loads progressively but the audio is still available right away
    • Increased the maximum gain level in the new audio analysis module to x4 instead of x2
    • Greatly improved the navigation in the Sequencer:
      • The modules can now be hidden/displayed with the buttons on the right toolbar
      • The Timeline can be extended to take up half of the total height of the Sequencer when the Sequences module is displayed
      • Improved the readability of the Timeline’s time track by changing the font, fixing graduation glitches and adjusting the precision of the timestamps displayed according to the zoom level
      • Improved the fluidity of the zoom in the Timeline
      • Improved the sensitivity of the trackpad zoom on the Timeline and in the Canvas
      • Added the possibility to scroll horizontally in the Sequences module and Timeline using a mousewheel click and drag
      • Added support for horizontal trackpad scroll in the Sequences modules and Timeline
      • Reworked the click actions on the different tracks of the Timeline: the playhead can now only be moved by clicking or dragging on the time track, while the cue track allows cue interactions (see above) and the audio allows clicks to deselect a cue
    • Improved the responsiveness of the Sequencer title bar
    • At reload, the played sequence is now the closest to cell 1:1 in the first tab
    • Sequence and cue creation now doesn’t alter playback: newly created objects only become selected/editable
    • Transitions are now triggered when sequences are played after a blackout
    • Simplified the edition of timestamps (cue, playhead, timeline length): you can now enter partial values like 3.12 (00:00:03.120), 1:12 (00:01:12.000) or even just a cumulative number of seconds and the input will be calculated accordingly
    • Ableton Link sync is now applied even when Autopilot is off and sequences are displayed manually from the Sequences module
    • Improved performances by making Timeline update and waveform drawing less resource-intensive
    • Optimized Tab addition and switch actions, making them quicker
    • Mouse scroll action are now taken into account even in an empty area of a tab
    • Change the behavior of “Jump to” cues so that they are triggered even when placed at 00:00 or triggered manually
    • Improved the "Virtual machine or hypervisor system detected" error message to give access to more help resources on the subject
    • When a sequence is deleted, all cues with an associated “Play” action become inactive and are automatically reassigned if the sequence is later reinstated
    • Implemented OSC feedback from assignable Sequencer elements

Nice to be able to simply drag a sequence to the timeline as opposed to inserting it from the right, Drag-Drop is so much easier.

I do have a really dumb question. Maybe I'm not seeing it correctly or just missing a tick-box somewhere or something.

But... I'm sort of confused... Lets say you make sequence #1 and now you want to make Sequence #2 but you don't want to use anything that was in Seq #1... How do you build a complete empty 2nd sequence without changing the shapes & properties of the previous sequence...

So far all I can seem to do is show and/or hide layers of the single sequence...  In HM2.8 it was easy to build a new sequence without consequences to other sequences... I don't know if I'm I just missing something in the sequence properties pane or, is this something that is not yet fully functional as of yet being beta2 ... or am I simply missing or doing something wrong...

Fully support this, "The one thing I would still love to see in HM is a SINGLE LINE feature as opposed to using a shape and then covering 3 sides with a MASK to create a single one-way directional line..", and svg import.

mrcidavies thanks for helping out other users.

And all suggestions are duly noted and taken into account when updating our roadmap (with other factors like technical feasability, etc, of course)

We'll try to keep you updated for what's to come in the next release soon.

Have a nice day, enjoy the official 2.10 next week!

    Lea,

Understand the technical issues that may prevent the suggestions, and appreciate that it has to join the 'list' of requests. Can I say this communication channel does need to be more responsive, or can we see more interaction in the Facebook group.

I am no mapping professional but it does seem that other products in this area get a lot more traction with users, and discussion groups, blogs etc are 'alive' with advice, tips and learning resources.

Look forward to the official 2.10 release. Well done all.

    Regards.
