Video continues play after seqence change
Hi,
I am putting together timed sequences with videos that play in order. I have noticed that on a sequence change the video 'runs on' for several seconds, even though the next sequence has started. I am forced to use the sequencer, with flags based on video length for control as no play next sequence on video end seems to be available. Happy to be corrected on this as I assumed the auto pilot did this.
Also it would be great to have an intro option for players that allow for a delay prior to display of content.

Hi,
Are you using transitions on the Sequences? Transitions work in way that can cause this. For instance, if Seq 1 is playing and then Seq 2 with a 2s transition starts playing, then Seq 1 "plays" 2 seconds longer in order to be mixed with Seq 2 for the transition.
On the second subject, Autopilot does have an option to trigger the next sequence based on when the first or last Source playing in the current Sequence ends, but not on a specific video Media. Per the manual:
-
Trigger next: this determines which sequencing step Autopilot uses between each sequence change. The same step is used for all sequence changes. If you want to vary between each sequence please see the Timeline module.
- Duration: Autopilot skips to the next sequence after a fixed duration, either in time or beats.
-
Source: Autopilot skips to the next sequence when the first or last Source playing in the sequence ends. It is considered that a Source ends when its last media reaches its end (no matter which loop mode it it set too).
Note: if no Source is playing in the current sequence, it never skips to the next. Same goes if a media is on infinite loop in the middle of a Playlist Source, since the end of the last media is never reached, Autopilot never skips.
Have a nice day,

Lea,
Thanks for this. I am using Transitions so that is explained. I would like to see a delayed start to sources, especially sources with sound as its the sound that overlaps.
On the second I haven an issue with 'Autopilot does have an option to trigger the next sequence based on when the first or last Source'.
How do you determine which is the first or last source as they are not numbered in any way?
Also what is 'Clip Transition Overflow' in the Sequence Panel as it's not decsribed anywhere?
And now I see no information regarding the two highlighted controls. I have tried to use both and only get no change or it locks up.
Regards.

Hi,
- Can you use a sequence as buffer to create the delay for now? Buffer sequence would be your Sequence without the video playing and with the Transition, the sequence right after would be a duplicate without a Transition and with the media playing
- "First" and "Last" don't refer to a specific Source number, first means "when any Source ends" and last means "when all Sources have ended" basically. I'll add this to the article.
- "Clip Transition Overflow" lets you control the overflow of effects outside of shapes. You can choose a default setting for each type of effect in the Preferences (Edit → Preferences... → Rendering → Overflow) and overwrite it for individual objects. Here's an example for Group Effects and Group Shaders: (it works similarly for Transitions)
-
"S" designate the start point and "E" the end point of the video. For instance, if you have a video that lasts 20s and you put S: 00:00:05 and E: 00:00:18, it will only play the 13 seconds in between those timestamps of the video.

Lea,
I'll try the buffer idea as a work-around.
Thanks for the First / Last info, as it would seem I need to use last, not first.
As for vide start / end it was obvious until I tried it then it doesn't seem to register and still starts at 00.
Regards.

Hi,
Ok, can you please send the video that you are using and a screenshot of the parameters you are entering? Thanks in advance.
Have a nice day,
